International House Sydney (IHS), Australia’s first commercial and largest engineered timber building, won a whopping four awards out of 23 categories including the Grand Prix main prize at the 18th Australian Timber Design Awards.

The 18th Australian Timber Design Awards winners were announced at the Yearly Presentation Night held in Melbourne on 25 October.

International House Sydney was the award winner in the following categories:
Grand Prix
People's Choice
Sustainability
Public or Commercial Building

The 7-storey office building with 8,000 m2 floor space is made from more than 2,000 m3 of CLT from Stora Enso's Ybbs unit. Designed by Tzannes architects and developed by our partner Lendlease, IHS is a distinctive new element in the city, intended to establish a warm and welcoming connection between the new harbour precinct of Barangaroo and the heart of the city. The architecture enhances the character of the public domain as well as the interior environment for its tenants and visitors by exploring a unique character and authenticity with a fully exposed timber structure.

The aim of the Australian Timber Design Awards is to develop a timber design ethos through the encouragement and showcasing of superlative timber design in a variety of applications.
