Stora Enso's first SBP certificate to Näpi mill

07 July 2016

Näpi Pellet mill is the first Stora Enso mill that was granted the Sustainable Biomass Partnership (SBP) certificate in the beginning of July. Also Imavere and Nebolchi mills are currently finalising their SBP certifications.

SBP certification is a tool for biomass energy sector. It involves the verification of sustainable origin of wood biomass, and the Greenhouse Gas efficiency of the supply chain. SBP demonstrates the supply chain’s reduction of fossil carbon dioxide emissions when using sustainable biomass energy instead of fossil fuels.

Stora Enso’s partner in the SBP certification is DNV GL, who was granted by the SBP programme an accreditation for SBP certifications as a result of the successful certification process.
