Improved performance of wood

Ideal to be used in challenging environments and changing climatic conditions.

Oiltreatment is a new wood modification method developed by Stora Enso. The method combines the naturally good characteristics of Nordic Scots pine (Pinus sylvestris) with an oil treatment that makes the products a durable and natural choice.

The new treatment brings versatile opportunities for wood in outdoor design and architecture. Oiltreatment is ideal for wood products that are used in demanding conditions, such as decking, cladding and environmental construction.

The Oiltreatment method is based on impregnation under pressure, which optimises the surface quality and the effects of the oil treatment to planed and profiled goods. Oiltreatment improves the critical wood properties, such as water repellency and weather resistance, and it gives the products a pleasant appearance.

Oiltreatment can be applied for pine heartwood, ThermoWood® and component products, and it is done in Stora Enso’s Uimaharju unit in Finland.
